Harlequins are considered a medium sized breed
with commercial body type. They must weigh
between 6lbs, 8 oz and 9lbs, 8oz as seniors to be shown. They should have a
well-rounded,
smooth, and well filled body with medium bone.
Harlequins come in 8 varieties, split into 2 groups. The groups are
Japanese, which has orange as the base color, and Magpie which has white as the
base color. Each group has 4 different marking colors which are:
black, blue, chocolate, and lilac.
Ideally,
Harlequins should have a split right down the center of their face. One half is
the marking color and the other the base color. The ears and front feet
should alternate from that. The hind feet should also alternate from the
front feet. They can either have bars or bands on their bodies.
Bands will go completely around the rabbit whereas bars only go half way around
and usually make their back look more like a checkered board.
